City police report a 26 year old man is charged with robbery with a firearm after a convenience store was held up last night. The incident happened at Cassells and O’Brien.

A small amount of cash was taken and there were no injuries.

Police located the man downtown and made the arrest without incident.

North Bay Police have charged two people after they were called to a break and enter in progress.

Police say the charges include break and enter into a dwelling house with intent to commit an offence and possession of break In instruments.

One of the two was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

Police say the break in happened happened around 6 am on Thursday at a Main Street apartment.

North Bay OPP officers and North Bay Police officers will be taking part in operation impact this long weekend.

It’s a national program that targets 4 motorist behaviors that are responsible for significant loss of life on our roads every year.

They are use of alcohol/drugs, speed, inattentive driving and lack of seat belt use.

North Bay OPP say they will have increased patrols of R.I.D.E., marine patrol and ATV patrol all weekend long.

North Bay Police say driving is a significant responsibility.

It demands focus, for everyone’s safety.

The West Nipissing Police Service has held its annual awards and recognition ceremony.

Constable Julie Birkland was presented with her Canadian Peace Keeping Medal for a mission to Haiti.

Three officers received Chief’s Commendation for having performed lifesaving acts.

And three civilians, Gilles Villeneuve, Martine Desormiers and Caroline Desbois were also recognized.

As well, 2 officers were recognized for their outstanding work that led to multi-jurisdictional crimes being solved.
