Local residents are being invited to ‘Rally for Rights’ today (Friday) at noon outside MPP Vic Fedeli’s office.

Officials are promoting educational rights after provincial changes to Indigenous, consent and sexual education curriculum.

Amelia Rising’s Public Educator and Client Advocate Mary White is organizing the event.

Voice that we want to advocate for changes to the curriculum and to make sure our education system is current, up-to-date, and covering topics such as cyberbullying, consent and Indigenous education,” she says.

White also says they will have a station set up for people to sign letters.

“We want people to know that we do have some control, and the more pressure that we put on the government, they have to eventually listen to the people, and the people that voted them in,” she says.

Starting next month White is also hosting consent education workshops.

Topics there include consent, boundary setting, healing relationships, and sexual violence.
