A report at city council has highlighted the financial situation the city is in halfway through the year.

Most departments at city hall are showing a surplus as of the end of June.

The list includes Engineering, Environmental Services & Works at close to $300,000, the Fire Department at $38,000 and Community Services at $21,000.

General Government though is looking at a $600,000 deficit.

The budget had planned to transfer $950,000 from reserves but the June 30th projection has reduced that to $300,000 due to savings from other city areas.

Other departments reporting surpluses include Service Partners at $200,000 and Corporate Services at near $50,000.

Meantime, the Water and Wastewater budget is reporting a surplus of over $62,000 halfway through the year.
