A former MP, councillor and school board trustee is running in this fall’s municipal election.

Jay Aspin has filed his nomination papers for trustee with the Near North District School board, a position he previously held for eight years.

During the campaign he says he will propose a strong platform in pursuit of a ‘culture of excellence’ for the board.

Aspin says vision, transparency, accountability, accessibility and innovation will be his guiding principles.

So far in North Bay, there are five people running for the Near North Board.

The deadline for nominations is Friday at 2 pm.
