Road construction season is here.

The city advises a number of projects are getting underway over the next couple of weeks on Cartier Street, Main East, Ferguson, Victoria Street West and more.

Mayor Al McDonald says there are some high profile streets being worked on.

“Marshall Avenue, I think it was voted one of the worst roads in the city, that’s getting a lot of attention, Lakeshore Drive is getting a lot of attention. But, we’re doing smaller roads too, in the residential areas,” he says.

McDonald says there’s a lot of money going into roads this year.

“Council has put aside 3.6 million to redo our roads and something interesting, we’ve resurfaced 25 per cent of our roads in the last five years, but there’s still more to be done,” he says.

The city says traffic will be impacted, with detours set up.

There’s also rehabilitation work taking place on the Kate Pace Way and the Cranberry Trail.
