The North Bay Fire Department was called to a room fire at the Travelodge Hotel on Lakeshore Drive around 1 pm Tuesday.

Fire Chief Jason Whiteley says there were no injuries as everyone inside the hotel was evacuated safely.

“The first crew confirmed we had a working fire on the 1st floor. Crews entered the building quickly . They got the fire extinguished quickly and fire prevention is investigating,” Whiteley says.

He says damage is estimated to be between $10,000-$20,000.

The cause may be electrical but nothing official yet.
