Officials at the North Bay Real Estate Board are hoping warmer weather will spur the housing market.

President Steve Liddle says sales are down.

“We’re down about 18 per cent as far as the number of sales go year to date. We’ve got fewer houses on the market. We’ve got 20 per cent less on the market as we had last year at this time. So there are active buyers out there,” he says.

Liddle says 211 housing units were sold in the first three months of the year.

The average price of a home at the end of March was $244,000.

He says it’s more of a sellers market right now.

“There is a little more favour going to the sellers right now mainly because there’s less supply. We’ve seen prices increase slightly. We’re up around four per cent over last year, as far as general pricing goes,” Liddle says.

He says you can go to their web site www.nbreb.ca to get the latest information on the market.
