Near North Student Robotics Team 1305 has a few goals for the upcoming FIRST Ontario Provincial Championship.

The event starts Wednesday at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga.

Team Captain Britney Lebel says they’d like their robot Arcadius to perform well again, but they also want to make sure everyone has fun.

As for the World Championship in Detroit later this month, she says they may be close to qualifying.

“We’re not certain until after Provincials because it depends on how many points we have from there.  We won’t know until then,” she says.

Team 1305 was on the winning alliance at a competition in Barrie in early March and had great results at the North Bay Regional event over Easter weekend, too.

“We actually won the event with our alliance and we won the Engineering Inspiration Award,” she says.

That resulted in the team qualifying for this week’s provincial championship.
