The president of Canadore College says they’re well on their way to meeting their fundrasing targets for The Village project, which is a collaborative approach to medical training integrating Eastern, Western and Indigenous practices.

“We’re about halfway to our $5-million goal and we’re confident we’re going to meet that goal over the next number of months,” says George Burton.

This after they received a $200,000 donation from the Deacon family last week.

Burton says it’s important to get community support for the project.

“We’re on the right track with our local community. The vision that we’ve developed with the local community and now sharing with the local community is being supported not only by word of mouth but with contributions and to me that sends a significant message,” he says.

The plan is to open Phase One of The Village in the fall and work is beginning on Phase Two.
