The Nipissing Lakers hockey and basketball teams, the Powassan Voodoos and North Bay AAA Major Midget Trappers all had games this past weekend.

On Sunday, the Trappers scored a 5-3 win over Timmins in their first game of 2018.

Five different Trappers scored in the win.

North Bay is back in action Friday, on the road to New Liskeard.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos only had one game on the weekend.

They lost 3-1 to the visiting Soo Thunderbirds on Saturday.

Next up, Powassan is home to Hearst on Friday.

 

In OUA women’s hockey, Nipissing won twice on the weekend.

The Lakers defeated Queen’s 1-0 in overtime on Friday then beat UOIT 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday.

The Nipissing men lost 2-1 to visiting Laurentian on Saturday.

In men’s basketball, the Lakers had a weekend split with a loss Friday to Queen’s then a 68-64 win over York on Saturday.

The Nipissing women lost both of their games (Queens and York) on the weekend.
