This year’s coach4 food program which supports the North Bay Food Bank is underway.

Co-chair of this year’s event is Deb Marson.

She says it kicked off at Sunday’s Battalion game.

“Sunday was awesome. We had four teams to help us with the collection at the doors and it was the start of our food blitz collection week which continues until Saturday. I believe we had 2,000 pounds of collected at the game that day.”

She says they have a total of 27 teams taking part this year by collecting food and the teams are from both the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association and the North Bay and District Girls Hockey Association.

Marson says the top rep boys team, the top rep girls team and the top house league team will get a practice with the Battalion coaches and they will be recognized at a Battalion game.

“It’s a great initiative to have the kids involved as they’re supporting the community by supporting their peers who they may not know are using the food bank. It’s especially important this time of year to keep the shelves stocked.”
