The two sides in the labour disruption at Ontario’s colleges including Canadore haven’t met since Monday.

On Wednesday, striking faculty held an information picket and met with Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.

He told them one issue is paramount.

“The most pressing issue is that the students don’t lose their semester we can all agree with that,” Fedeli told the crowd.

He also indicated he would be sending a letter to the premier which calls on her to do what she can to get both sides back to the bargaining table.

Fedeli also says he will be reminding the premier in the letter that she shouldn’t be gambling with the students futures.

Local OPSEU spokesperson John Patterson speaks for the faculty at Canadore.

He says there’s a lot of frustration right now, because there haven’t been any talks since Monday.

“Not only did they renege on the things they agreed to they created some more language and pushed this forced vote on us. It’s a cynical approach to bargaining,” Patterson says.

He says this dispute is about one issue.

“I think the real agenda is that they wanted to continue to erode the number of full time faculty. That’s really their goal,” he says.
