The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says an Astorville man has been placed under probation for two years for ice hut violations under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

It stems from an investigation into a local outfitter known as IceHutRentals.ca placing six commercial huts on Lake Nipissing for rent without a proper licence to operate.

The man was found guilty in September of placing six commercial huts on a lake without proper assigned identification numbers.

The ice huts were forfeited to the Crown.
