You may notice areas of the King’s Landing Wharf and Marina blocked off today (Monday).

Golder Associates and their barge operator are beginning a geotechnical investigation.

John Severino is the city’s managing director of Community Services.

He says the city needs to find out the cost estimate of rehabilitating the wharf or redeveloping a multi use pier and wave break.

That includes sampling and sub-soil and sub-water data in and around the current wharf.

Severino says the city will need to know structurally what would have to be done for either option.

He says the information will be used by the engineering firm in establishing the structural requirements needed.  City council will learn about that sometime in the fall.

The geotech probe is expected to conclude on August 18th.
