A couple of familiar faces to North Bay Battalion fans took part yesterday in the Battalion One Kids Place golf tournament.

Both Goalie Jake Smith and forward Mathew Santos were in attendance at the event which raises funds for the Childrens Treatment Centre.

Last season, Smith played for Balzano in the Austrian League.

He says he didn’t play much but next season looks promising as he’s signed a contract and is the only goalie signed so far.

He says there’s a chance he could suit up for the Italian national team.

Last season, Smith played in just 10 games and had a 2.62 goals against average.

Santos played in 49 games for the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast league and scored 6 goals and added 6 assists.

Santos who left North Bay after last season says his first year of pro hockey didn’t go as well as expected but he still wants to give it a go although he’s also looking at playing in the Canadian university system too.
