Low income adults who may have had difficulties accessing dental care in the past will be benefiting from an announcement by the Health Unit.

Officials say they’re using funds from a Green Shield Canada Community Giving Grant to set up a new oral health clinic for low income adults.

The planning phase is underway with the clinic expected to open this fall.

“Poor oral health is debilitating for many adults in our community” says Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health. “With the generous help of Green Shield Canada, we will now be able to treat low income adults and positively impact their quality of life.”

The Health Unit currently provides dental care for youth 17 and younger, through the Healthy Smiles Ontario program.
