North Bay Police Chief Shawn Devine has a lot of concerns about impending marijuana legislation by the Trudeau government.

We’re expected to learn more about the bill today (Thursday).

Devine wonders how the legalization of pot will impact police investigation of impaired driving.

He asks what are police going to receive, in terms of funding and equipment, that will enable them to continue to enforce drug-impaired driving.

Devine says another issue is the age of when it becomes legal to use pot, while enforcement is another concern.

He says if pot becomes legal changes will have to be made to the DARE program, which is all about resisting drugs.

Ottawa plans to legalize and regulate pot by the middle of next year.
