The North Bay Battalion picked up five more players in the inaugural Under-18 Priority Selection Wednesday night, including 4 forwards and a goalie.

The Troops selected Carleton Place Canadians leading scorer Ryland Mosley with the third overall pick.

North Bay also drafted Trappers forward Nick Davis in the fifth round.

Fellow Trappers forward Mason McMahon was picked by Oshawa in the fourth round.

Here are the Troops five picks:
3: Ryland Mosley (LW) Carleton Place Canadians
23: Jared Weber (C) CIH Academy Green
43: Francois Drouin (LW) Cumberland Grads
63: Will Barber (G) Oakville Rangers
83: Nick Davis (RW) North Bay Trappers

Last weekend, the Battalion selected 16 players in the OHL Priority Selection, starting with Brandon Coe with the 3rd overall pick.

Coe played last season with the OHL Cup runners up Toronto Nationals scoring 33 points (17 goals, 16 assists) in 31 games.

The 6’4″ right winger also scored 6 points in 8 games (3g,3a) during the OHL Cup. In his OHL draft profile, Coe says he models his game after Anaheim Ducks superstar, Corey Perry.

Coe’s Coach, Jim Vitale tells the OHL website, when he’s on his game he can take control of the game on his own.

“He’s got all the tools, he’s probably one of the better skaters in the league and he’s got hands and he can score. He doesn’t try and play in front of the defence, he tries to get pucks in behind which is pretty special at this level.”

Vitale also talked about his leadership skills.

“He’s a guy who’s going to stand up and say ‘let’s go boys!’ when the chips are down he’s the guy who will call you out and make sure guys understand if they’re playing or not. It’s not an ego thing he just wants players to match his intensity.”

The Troops next selected, 5’11” defenceman Simon Rose from the Pembroke Lumberkings 35th overall.

Rose is described as a defenceman who takes care of his own end first, despite putting up 21 points in 39 games last season.

In the third round, Central Ontario Wolves forward Kurtis Evans was selected by the Battalion.

North Bay also selected three Midget AAA Trappers, defenceman Payton Vescio in the fourth round along with centre Ryan Mills in the 10th round and right winger Mathew Hardwick in the 12th.

Two more Trappers were selected by other OHL teams. Sarnia picked up right winger Cole Craft in the 8th round while defenceman Kobe Seguin was drafted by Sault Ste Marie in the 11th round.

North Bay’s Zachary Roy who plays for the Toronto Nationals was drafted in the 4th round by Hamilton.
