It’s the culmination of months of hard work for several area students.

The 55th annual North Bay Regional Science Fair goes today at the R.J. Surtees Athletic Centre at Nipissing University.

David Jackowski is chair of the event.

He says there are typically 50 to 100 science projects at the fair, but that’s not all.

There will be Science on the Wall projects submitted by primary school students too.

Categories at the fair include Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Earth and Environment, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Biotechnology.

Dozens of awards and cash prizes are up for grabs while up to five students will be selected to attend the Canada-wide Science Fair next month in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The public viewing goes from 9 am to 5 pm today with the awards presentation to follow beginning at 6:30 pm.
