A big crowd was on hand at the North Bay Granite Club as they watched defending Olympic gold medalist Brad Jacobs and his rink from Sault Ste Marie win the Northern Ontario Men’s Curling Championship.

Jacobs defeated the Jordan Chandler rink out of Sudbury 5-0 through 9 ends and will represent Northern Ontario at the Brier.

Jacobs, who will be going to his 8th Brier admitted that it was still nerve-wracking at the provincial championship.

“It’s for a provincial championship, it’s to go to the nationals and you’re playing a good team, there’s always going to be a little bit of nerves there,” admitted Jacobs after the game.

“I think that’s good for us though, it makes you feel alive and I think we responded well to everything.”

They will travel to Ottawa for March 5th as they will be representing Northern Ontario at the Brier.
