road openIt won’t have an effect on drivers in North Bay or Callander – but if you travel to other city’s you might want to get acquainted with a new provincial law.

Corporate Communications Coordinator with the North Bay Police is Marie Lugli and she says the rule change deals with pedestrian crossover areas which are marked with specific signs.

Lugli says while there aren’t specific areas on local roadways it is still a good idea for drivers to be cautious at any crossing zones and give pedestrians ample time to cross.

Fines for the new law are between $150 to $500 and three demerit points and came into effect on January 1st.
