Robotics PhotoFIRST Robotics is more than just building robots and Team 1305 wants to new students to see that.

They are hoping to recruit high school students at an open house tonight.

Business Manager Jessica Kelso says they will be showing all the benefits of being on a robotics team such as learning about programming, participating in global events, being eligible for millions of dollars worth of scholarships and more.

The event takes place from 6:30-8:30pm at Canadore College Commerce Court, room 208.

Meantime, Kelso says Team 1305 are eagerly awaiting the announcement of this years game.

She says every year a new game is released with a different theme and rules.

They have six weeks after the release to build a program, prototype and structure the robot.

Kelso says they find out more this Saturday when the game is officially released.

In a release, Team Captain Benjamin Reevie, a grade 12 student says, “Come to our season kick-off on Saturday January 9 at Nipissing University. The team will be on hand to answer questions and welcome anyone who is interested in joining.  On January 6, we will also be hosting a FIRST Lego League Junior open house (for kids aged 6 to 9) at the North Bay Public Library. “
