City Hall2 The city of North Bay is working on a strategy to attract new businesses and industries to the area.

Mayor Al McDonald says Council has approved the creation of an Economic Development Corporation.

He says this corporation will allow those staff to have one singular focus – to bring in business.

McDonald says they need to make contacts beyond Canadian companies.

He says “we’re looking at every opportunity were we can go and bang on doors through the contacts of this board, and the fact we have these individuals sitting around the table who can pick up the phone and call anyone in Australia or Asia is very helpful for us, for when we want to try and recruit them.

McDonald says they are working on identifying which kind of businesses fit best in North Bay, with some of them mentioned as aerospace, advanced manufacturing and health care.
