online salesPeople connecting through online sales sites, like Kijiji, in Midland and Orangeville are being offered a safe spot to exchange goods in those communities, at police stations.

And it’s something police here will be looking into.

North Bay Police Chief Paul Cook tweeted this morning, “We will be discussing this initiative within our command staff.”

Officials with the initiative elsewhere say professional thieves will use online ads to get access to homes and personal information.

They say meeting in a public place helps prevent theft and fraud and knowing where people live.

They also say meeting at a police station means everything is on camera and officers are close by.
