Bobby Orr trophyThe OHL Eastern Conference Championship is now knotted at two wins apiece.

This after the Oshawa Generals won 3-2 over the North Bay Battalion Wednesday night at Memorial Gardens.

Mathew Santos opened the scoring for North Bay in the first period, with the Battalion holding the lead into the dressing room.

Oshawa scored a couple powerplay goals in the second period, first to tie the game at one, then later to even the score at two.

Coach Stan Butler says that was a big factor in the game as they gave up only one 5 on 5 goal.

In between the two Generals goals, the Troops got a powerplay marker of their own, as defenceman Marcus McIvor scored on a breakaway, accepting a pass right after leaving the penalty box.

Both North Bay goals were scored on breakaways.

Oshawa then took the lead with a third period goal and held on for the win. That goal was scored by Stephen Desrocher.

He also scored Oshawa’s goal in Game 3 and says it’s great to contribute.

Oshawa coach DJ Smith says the team didn’t start out well as they were outplayed in the first half of the game but their goalie Ken Appleby kept them in it.

The Troops outshot the Generals 11-3 in the first period, and forward Zach Bratina says they have to put forth that kind of effort for the whole game.

Overall, the Battalion outshot the Generals 26-16.

Game five goes Friday night in Oshawa, broadcast time on Country 600 CKAT is 7:05 pm.
