Andrea YoungThe West Ferris Trojans picked up a win in their first game of the NDA varsity girls soccer season while the Nipissing Lakers women’s soccer team has added a new recruit.

Forward Andrea Young (pictured) comes to the Lakers after playing club football in Ottawa.

She’s a four-time honour roll student and high school MVP who also led her Ottawa International team in scoring this past season, helping the team finish first in their division.

Young says, “I am a determined player; from the first whistle to the last whistle of the game. I constantly strive to help my team in every aspect of the game. With speed, aggression and heart I do my best as a player to protect and help out my team throughout the entire game on and off the field,”

She has also been a member of multiple tournament winning teams. Young is entering the Criminal Justice program.

 

WFlogoIn NDA varsity girls soccer, West Ferris won 7-0 over Northern.

Taylor Bishop, Morgan Bossert and Stephanie Aquiar each scored twice while Tamara Wilkinson added a single.

The shutout was shared between Stephanie Winterburn and Chloe Houlder.

Meantime, the senior boys at West Ferris also opened their season with a win over Northern, by a 2-0 score.

Trojan’s defender Brennan Bartraw had a strike from 35 meters while Hiroto Mizuno scored on a free kick.

Arthur Marsili recorded the shutout for the Trojans.
