Food Bank 1It’s the beginning of a new era for the North Bay Food Bank as they have officially opened at their new location. They have moved to the corner of Fisher and Princess Streets.

The new location is bigger and on a major bus route. Mark Deacon is the Treasurer, and him and his partner Steven have donated $50,000 to the Food Bank.

Chair of the Food Bank Katharine Strang says they faced a lot of issues in their old building on Hammond – which have been cleared up by moving to the new location. She says that includes not having to pay rent.

As well they have a large bay door which is perfect when getting bigger deliveries. The building has been named the Martinello House in honor of Marty Martinello. He is the founder of the soup kitchen, which he started out of his own home over three decades ago.
