Team 1305 Chairmans award 2015

The FIRST Robotics World Championships begin tomorrow (Thursday) and Team 1305 is in St Louis to represent North Bay.

They arrived last night.

Team Mentor Nancy Dewar-Stenning says there are teams from all over the globe including the Netherlands, Brazil, Australia and more.

She says they’ve made a couple of changes to their robot Phelix, since the Regionals ended.

Dewar-Stenning says they are hoping the change can give them a leg up on the other teams during their 2-minute match as they’ve added some speed to Phelix.

This will be their third straight trip to this competition. They qualified after winning the Chairman’s Award at the North Bay Regional last month.

As Chairman’s Presenter Jessica Kelso tells it, Team 1305 didn’t think they would be going back to the Worlds for a third straight year.

She says “That was our last chance to qualify, and the Award is the last one given out so we were pretty stressed out.”
