Century tourHockey Canada is celebrating 100 years and Memorial Gardens is the latest stop on their cross-Canada tour.

Tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow, local hockey fans can check out the Century Tour, which includes two 54-foot trailers.  The event is free.

Communications lead Charlotte Coulson says one feature is a state-of-the-art timeline of milestone hockey moments.

There’s also plenty of technology involved.

The Century Tour will be set up at Memorial Gardens from 5:30 pm to 7 pm ahead of tonight’s Battalion game.

Coulson says when they found out the Battalion had a playoff game tonight, they decided to arrive a little early and give fans the chance to check out the tour before the game.

Tomorrow, the event runs from 1pm to 7pm and again, it’s free.

Also of note, the local recipient of the Canadian Tire Hero of Play trophy will be announced at 6 pm tomorrow.

Coulson says they award the trophy to someone who volunteers within the hockey community, dedicating a lot of time and effort into developing hockey in their hometown.

100 volunteers in total, across Canada, are being recognized with the award.
