City-hall1The John Street Bridge, a Skateboard Park and lots of asphalt resurfacing; those are some of the Capital Projects expected to take place in North Bay this year.

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says they have allocated $19-million dollars towards projects this year.

He adds they also have funding for commercial development of the Waterfront, but it may not start this year.

Forgette says that could include shops or boutiques along the Waterfront where there could be meals or drinks available.

He says he hopes the process of putting those in will begin at some point during this council term.

Council will see a full list of this year’s projects at tonight’s (Monday) council committee meeting.

Tonight’s council agenda also includes a couple zoning bylaw requests.

One involves the former St Paul school on Elmwood Avenue. The Children’s Aid Society is looking to convert the building into office space.

The other zoning bylaw request involves a proposal to build a new Nipissing University Student Union building at 645 College Drive.
