Aspin - vets 2

Canada’s Veterans Affairs Minister Erin O’Toole has announced several changes to their portfolio in the last couple of weeks. To get a better understanding of those changes, MP Jay Aspin held a local Q and A session for Veterans in North Bay.

Aspin says “it’s hard to get used to change, and we need different programs for Veterans in different compositions. It also gives people an appreciation of what the department has to go through.”

Some of those changes include veteran reservists gaining access to the same benefits as full-time members of the Canadian Forces; as well as new financial assistance for moderately and seriously disabled veterans aged 65 and older.

Meantime, 13 Veterans from North Bay were honored in a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the start of World War II.
