A pair of losses for the regional NOJHL teams in Friday night games, while the NOJHL announces its All-Star teams.

The Powassan Voodoos lost on the road by a score of 6-2 to Kirkland Lake.


 
The Voodoos opened the scoring just 1:46 in on a goal from Kyle Moore. However, over the next 40 minutes of play the Gold Miners would score four straight goals, including a pair from Ethan Strong.

 

The Voodoos cut into the lead at 9:56 of the third making it a 4-2 game. Kirkland Lake added two more tallies in the final five minutes to take the home victory.

 

Meantime,

The NOJHL also announced its All-Star teams and Voodoos leading scorer Steven Harland was named to the First Team All-Star squad.
 

Mattawa Jr A Blackhawks 

 

The Mattawa Blackhawks couldn’t solve the Crunch in Cochrane losing 6-1.

 

The Crunch got the lone goal in the first period, and added four more in the second through the first 14 minutes of play. That included a shorthanded goal at 8:26 which gave Cochrane a 4-1 lead at that point.

 

Brett Ouderkirk had scored the lone Blackhawks goal at 1:42 of the second, which got the Blackhawks to within a goal 2-1 at that point.

It was a penalty filled third period with 20 minutes in minor penalties handed out; six to Cochrane and four to Mattawa.

 

Dustin Cordeiro scored the only goal in the final frame to finish off the 6-1 Cochrane victory.
