It’s a feather in the cap for the Near North District School Board’s French Immersion Early Learning Kindergarten programs.

Educator teams at two North Bay schools are being featured in videos that will be supporting educators all over Ontario.

Program Coordinator Greg Deschamps says filming took place recently at Alliance French Immersion Public School and Sunset Park Public School.

“Our board, our students and our teaching teams will be featured in short clips on a teacher resource site. It will be open for all educators to see,” he says.

Deschamps says professional learning took place last year at Alliance, Sunset Park and Mattawa District Public School.

“We were trying to find how we can better serve our early learners in a second language, in the immersion program, really help them build their understanding, build their language capacity and help our teacher teams to recognize that through different strategies,” he says.

The educational component involved two school boards last year.

“This year it was offered to the Near North District School Board to continue with this learning and have the opportunity for some filming,” Deschamps says.

Funding for the project was provided by the province.
