Former Battalion player Calvin Gomes has been named coach of the North Bay Minor Midget Trappers.

Last season the 22 year old was an assistant coach for the Trappers, a team coached by Mike Stockfish that developed five players who were drafted by the Troops in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.

“It was a really great experience to see someone so dedicated and passionate towards the development of his players,” Gomes says.

Despite his young age, he wants to give back and believes he is ready for the challenge of coaching.

“Having gone already through the process that these kids are going through I want to be able to help each one of them progress in their hockey careers, not only on the ice, but as well grow towards being great young adults off the ice,” he says.

“With Calvin’s extensive hockey experience and familiarity with this program, we are confident he will continue and build on the success enjoyed by the Minor Midget program,” says Gilles Ledoux, Vice President of the North Bay Trappers AAA Hockey Association.

First Trappers tryouts for the Midgets (Minor and Major combined tryout ) take place on Saturday, April 21st from 10 AM to noon at Memorial Gardens.
