Treatment services for opioid addiction locally are getting a funding boost.

The Northeast Local Health Integration Network says $200,000 is going to theNorth Bay Regional Health Centre to establish a Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic.

They will provide outreach supports to West Nipissing, Temiskaming Shores, Mattawa and Temagami.

North Bay Recovery Home receives $130,000 in funding to enhance withdrawal management and addiction counselling.

“This strategy recognizes the need to bring care closer to home for Northerners who are impacted by the rising rates of opioid use disorder, accidental overdoses, hospitalizations and ER visits across the North East Region,” says Kate Fyfe, Interim CEO of the North East LHIN. “It is also a good example of how sub-region planning is empowering providers to collaborate and make local decisions to improve access and coordination of services for their residents.”

The local funding is a part of $1.65-million dollars being invested across the Northeast.
