We are still a few weeks out from the official start of Winter but the snow has started to fall, so it’s a perfect time to look at what to expect from winter in North Bay.
Senior climatologist with Environment Canada, Dave Phillips says we could see a slightly above average winter in terms of snow fall, and that usually happens when it is warmer.
But, Phillips says this has been one of the hardest Winters to predict in some time.
“I look at a lot of different models, our our, I looked at U.S. models and they’re all singing different songs here,” he says. “We think it’s going to be slightly milder this year than normal, but it will still feel more like winter than we’ve seen in the last two years.”
Phillips does say with the early snow fall and cold fronts moving in, it sets the region up perfectly to have snow on the ground when children wake up on the 25th.
