There was concern at Woodland Public School on Cedargrove Drive in North Bay on Monday about bears.

Principal Julie Beaudoin says there weren’t bears on school property but there was a mother and two cubs in the area.

“Further down the street from us closer to Tackaberry, closer to Gormanville Road. Then we received a 2nd call from the MNR indicating the bears had been contained.”

She says they informed parents about the situation and kept the students indoors as a precaution during their afternoon nutrition break.

“Just to make sure as a preventative option. Because we weren’t specifically sure where the bears were at that time.”

Beaudoin says the the situation was contained by dismissal time.
