Two projects at Nipissing University received research support Friday from both the federal and provincial governments.

The total amount of the funding is just over $350,000.

The money will go towards support for a human evolutionary lab and for specialized equipment.

In addition, the institution will get just over $100,00 to help with maintenance costs.

MP Anthony Rota says the government believes in science and the research scientists at Nipissing do are key factors so the government can make decisions based on facts.

Dr. Steven Arnocky is the head of the lab at Nipissing that’s receiving the funds.

He says research is expensive and it’s important to receive provincial and federal government support.
