There’s a new brew in town and it’s supporting local families battling Cystic Fibrosis.

New Ontario Brewing Company and KiSS 100.5 have teamed up to launch Tilted Tower Broadcaster’s Ale.

KiSS 100.5 morning show host Kevin Oschefski says 50 cents from each of the light, blueberry wheat ales will be donated to the local Cystic Fibrosis foundation, raising money to help find a cure.

“They are so close right now, that every little bit gets them to that day when I really believe there will be that announcement in the media that they found the cure and hopefully this is another step towards that,” he says.

Brewmaster Mike Harrison says they’ve supported community projects from day one and this was certainly one they wanted to get involved with.

“Partnering up with KiSS 100.5 and the CF Foundation for us has been a great opportunity to reach back into the community and give back to the people that help us, and also to raise a little bit of money, little bit of awareness for a disease that needs a cure,” he says.

At Thursday’s launch, CF parent Jon Corbett (pictured below) introduced his daughter Melody, who was diagnosed when she was two weeks old.

Fighting back tears, he told the crowd they go to Sudbury every three months, they work on keeping her airway clear, nutrition up, weight at a certain level and keep her lungs healthy.

“We work as a team and we do our best, but this money might lead to a cure, then help out a lot of people,” he says.

Corbett likes the fact that people who buy the beer get something for it and the CF community gets something too.

The limited edition Tilted Tower Broadcaster’s Ale is available at New Ontario Brewing Company at 1881 Cassells Street.
