Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a 31 year old Gatineau man after a reported pursuit that ended on Highway 11 South in North Bay on Thursday.

Police say the Mattawa detachment responded to a request from Gatineau Police Service to apprehend a male believed to be in the area.

Several OPP officers and units were involved, including the North Bay, Powassan and Almaguin Highlands Detachments, Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation Services and the North Bay Police Service.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, noting Highway 11 between Seymour Street and the Lakeshore exit was closed for a short time during the incident.

It’s been a busy few days for police on that stretch of the roadway.

On Wednesday morning just before 8 o’clock four vehicles were involved in a collision in the construction zone south of Seymour.

A 28 year old Powassan man has been charged with careless driving.

Provincial Police say the preliminary investigation is that a northbound pickup truck hit a small car, which was then pushed into an SUV, causing that vehicle to rollover and hit a second SUV.

There were minor injuries and two drivers were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The roadway was closed for about an hour after the collision.
