It’s been a long off season for the North Bay Battalion as they missed the playoffs for just the 3rd time in the teams 19 year history, but hope springs eternal with preparations underway for next season.

Kyle Potts scored 12 goals last season for the Troops, adding 8 assists, and he didn’t miss a game.

He says some of the teams younger players entering their 3rd season will be expected to lead more.

He includes himself in that group along with Justin Brazeau, Cam Dineen and Brady Lyle.

Meantime, Potts says he’s already impressed with number 3 draft pick Brandon Coe.

He skates with the new recruit every Sunday down south and says Coe looks like a really good player, and Potts says he’s excited to see what Coe will bring to the team.

He also says the team will miss assistant coach John Dean, who has moved on from the Battalion, but he looks forward to working with new assistant coach Scott Wray.

Coming up, the Battalion will be taking part in the CHL import draft on Wednesday.

The Troops have the 7th overall pick.
