Snowmobile season has officially come to an end.

North Bay Snowmobile Club spokesperson Shawn Flindall says their trails are now closed.

He says there was a couple “rain delays”, which isn’t uncommon, but the season lasted 11 weeks this year, which is one week better than the typical season.

“We’re right around average, last year was a very short season with, I think, 8 weeks of riding. So, we’re way ahead of last year and lots of happy faces on a lot of sledders this year,” he added.

Flindall says they had plenty of positive feedback and draw in a lot of snowmobilers from southern Ontario and the United States, too.

“They come in droves and, you know, the average snowmobiler is spending between $200 to $250 per day while their riding, between lodging and restaurants, gas and parts. It’s a big boom to the industry,” he says.

Flindall says visitors really like the regular consistency with conditions and trails.
