Jeff Serran

City Council aproved the sale of land to the Nipissing Serenity Hopsice last night (Monday) after Council.

It will be the first hospice located in the North Bay area and Councillor Jeff Serran says it’s a positive step forward.

He spoke to Matthew Sookram on Council Capsule this morning and Serran says it’s a win-win situation.

Meantime, there are more movie production trucks in the downtown core as filming for a couple of Hallmark movies resumes.

Serran says there is a big economic spin off to having movies shot in North Bay.

Serran says they are hopeful this will be sustainable over the long term.

Meantime, Council heard some concerns from a local charity group about potential lost revenues if a casino comes to town.

Serran says there’s a chance the two groups can work together.

He says there are more benefits to having a casino directly in North Bay instead of one of the outlying communities.
