?15 area children have been awarded brand new mountain bikes complete with a helmet and bike lock.

It’s all a part of the Tim Hortons “Earn A Bike” Program.

The children, all between the ages of 8 and 14 were chosen after completing the required community service hours.  

They cleaned up local parks and schools or helped out with local community groups.

North Bay Police along with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre are all involved in the program. 

City Police Constable Raymond Yelle says it’s a great opportunity for the police to send a positive message to young people that wIth hard work great things can be achieved.

Cheapskates assembled all the bikes locally..Owner Barry Klus says its great to be involved. Local Tim Hortons store owner Brandon Moffat says he was surprised to learn this event is now 15 years old. He says these children are learning they can make a difference in their community with hard work.
