Indigenous and non-indigenous people of the Sault Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church are gathering at the St Joseph Motherhouse for a unique celebration today. Father Anthony Man-Song-Hing says events began with a sunrise ceremony at 5:30am.

The event also includes a mass at 9:30am followed by teachings about native spirituality at 10:30am.

There’s also an activity for children, to teach them how to make a rosary with a potluck lunch at 12:30pm to close the event.

Overall, Father Anthony says the free event is open to everyone and is about getting to know each other, celebrate together and to learn from each other.
