world space weekThe UN General Assembly declares October 4th to the 10th World Space Week each year, and the City of North Bay is getting involved.

Details on the inaugural local event are being announced today (Friday) with an Industry Day, an Education Day and a Space Day for the general public planned in October.

Co-chairs of the YYB North Bay World Space Week Committee Mayor Al McDonald and Canadore President George Burton will be joined by MP Jay Aspin and Swiss Space Systems officials at today’s event.

A FedNor funding announcment is being made in support of the week and S3‘s Zero Gravity Flights Campaign launch.

Details are also expected on the next phase of S3’s drop-testing at the airport and the Zero Gravity flights campaign in the Spring and Summer of 2016.

Around the world last year more than 1,400 events in 80 countries celebrated the benefits and excitement around space exploration.
