pancakes-1140267-mIt’s become an annual rite of spring: the Powassan Maple Syrup Festival and it’s back for an 18th year tomorrow.

Festival chair Roger Glabb says there’s no shortage of things to do including a kids zone for the first time at the Powassan Legion, featuring Cindy from Polka Dot Door.

He says the opening ceremonies are the highlight of the morning at 10 am and then it’s the famous pancake tossing contest.

Other events include 4 pancake breakfasts, tours of the Matthew’s Maple Sugar Bush, a Sheep Shearing demonstration, an all day craft sale at the Powassan Library, a cooking demonstration at the Sportsplex and even maple taffy on ice.

As well you can check out the Scottish Heavy Games, and there’s paintball.

Glabb says there’s off site parking nearby. He says follow the signs to Highway 534 and there will be 2 shuttle buses: one to the festival and the other to Matthew’s Maple Syrup.
