NE LHIN

Improved marks locally in the wait times for patients who are getting either hip or knee replacements. A director with the Northeast LHIN Cynthia Stables says the provincial target for a hip replacement is 182 days while locally it’s 180 days.

And for a knee replacement the target is 180 days and in North Bay it’s 120 days.

Stables says people are moving through the health care system faster because of the several joint assessment centers in the northeast. She says there are 5 such centres including 1 in North Bay.

Stables says not everyone assessed gets surgery as it’s not always the preferred option.
